Presentation of a hidden jewel of Umbria: Eremito The hotel of the soul and its digital detox

Once their car is parked in the hotel car park, a jeep picks them up to drive the last three kilometres to the Eremito. Here, in the heart of a nature reserve in Umbria, is the monastic chic hotel that was one of the first to offer "digital detox" in Italy.

"the first time I set eyes on this valley I felt I was in a "special" place: the colors, the twinkling lights of the river, the woods of the nature reserve...and there, atop a hill, stood a ruin. »

says Marcello, the owner of the place, already founder of the hotel El Escondido in Mexico which was elected among the 5 best ecolodges in the world. The result of these intense feelings gave birth to Eremito in May 2013. A hotel born from 14th century ruins, which today has recovered its original splendor to offer guests a place to regenerate, to think about the priorities of life often forgotten.

"The luxury I want to offer, is found in the past, when nights were lit by candles and the moon. The real luxury for me, now as then, is the rediscovery and appreciation of the essential."

explains the owner.

Here you stay in a "Celluzze", the cells once used by hermits. Eremito has 14 single rooms.
Although basic comfort is provided, the hotel has no telephone network, no TV and no wi-fi.

The monastic style of the hotel is also reflected in the simple, basic, healthy and moderate meals. All the food is homemade, authentic and of high quality. The tastes and smells are reminiscent of the traditions of Umbria and its small villages.

The relaxation area is entirely dug into the rock, here you can leave behind the stress of everyday life and relax in the hot water pool to the sound of soft Gregorian chants.... Don't forget to drink their natural teas and their homemade drink "Melemito".

The hotel offers yoga and meditation classes, fasting and colon detoxification. It is also possible to participate in the maintenance of the garden, to walk in the woods along the Chiani River, to take courses in icon painting or to learn Gregorian chant.
