Puerto Vallerta, Diving in the Pacific Coast of Mexico!

Puerto Vallarta, in the state of Jalisco, and RivieraNayarit, in the state of Nayarit, stretch for more than 300 km along Mexico's Pacific coast. Home to some of Mexico's most famous beaches, these are two thriving regions with no shortage of fun water activities. Check out these four water sports you won't want to miss this summer.

Diving: Puerto Vallarta offers some of the most famous diving spots on the central Pacific coast and is an underwater paradise for those who venture out. June to October is the low season for diving, but it is the ideal time for beginners, with warmer waters.

Experienced divers can venture to Chimo, where humpback whales and their calves can often be seen until December. Los Arcos National Marine Park is home to the deepest point in the Bay of Banderas, with caves and a thriving reef. Here divers can explore underwater caves, reefs teeming with tropical fish and see all kinds of turtles, octopus, seahorses, dolphins, manta rays and more.

Surfing: Surfing lessons in the area are readily available at very reasonable prices for beginners.

Punta de Mita, Sayulita and San Blas de RivieraNayarit are favourite spots for beginners and professionals alike, with visitors from all over the world coming to enjoy the beautiful waves. Lunazul in Sayulita is a must for surfers, with great surf classes and waves in the most beautiful hippie town in Mexico. Chacala in Riviera Nayarit, where the beaches are hidden and loved by the locals, is also a hot spot for surfers.

Sailing: Banderas Bay is also a top sailing destination, and like many other activities available in the area, there are trips suitable for all skill levels. The unrivalled coastline, warm waters and winds provide the perfect setting for a sailing getaway.

Vallarta Adventures offers private and group charters on fishing boats, sailboats and catamarans for a number of excursions.

Snorkelling: Snorkelling is another great way to experience these warm Pacific waters. Meet up with a group of experienced divers on a boat trip, explore the tropical ecosystems, and stop off at remote spots and coves along the way.

Off the coast of Riviera Nayarit, the Marietas Islands are a national park and UNESCO World Heritage Site offering many opportunities for exploration and adventure. It is here that the famous "hidden beach" is located - a secluded paradise of white sand and crystal clear turquoise waters, which can only be reached by swimming or kayaking. Vallarta Adventures offers this memorable excursion.

The abundance of water experiences in Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit is unparalleled.
